This is the Garden Park Towers, not too far from where I live. It is not strata or rental, but co-op housing, with mostly Mennonite seniors in residence.
The stone structure in the foreground looks like a World War cenotaph, and in a way it is. It does memorialize war dead, but not soldiers. It was put there as a memorial to the many Mennonites who lost their lives during the Russian Revolution.
There are two floors of commercial leases and above that are the various shapes and sizes of apartments. It is a great location and quite a popular place for seniors lunches with a large coffee shop. I have been in this building many times for wedding receptions, doctor appointments, tests with BC Biomedical labs, and several times voting at the polling station during election time. But of all the hi-rises in town, this is the only one where I have never worked. I am feeling rejection right now.
I need a hug.

Well, that's interesting. Why is that? Perhaps they make do with the original decor, or they get family to do it. Who knows?
