We Need More Greenhouse Gases, Now!

What do you think of when you conjure up images of Central America? Heat, humidity, tropical temperatures, ceiling fans swirling lazily in hot room, warm rain, and perhaps humming air conditioners? Read this from my cousin whose daughter lives in Guatemala.
Be on alert for intense cold in Guatemalalunes, 11 de enero de 2010Monday, January 11, 2010The National Coordination of Disaster Reduction has placed a "yellow" alert for the intense cold in almost all of Guatemala. The cold will get worse over the next few days.Sacatepéquez, Quetzaltenango, Quiché, Totonicapán, San Marcos, Huehuetenango, Sololá, Alta Verapaz y esta capital, éste de la municipalidad. For the people that have very low resources (housing etc), this organization will open 15 shelters in various places. (as listed above)According to the National Institute of weather, the temperatures will descend even more on Monday and Tuesday, and may begin to rise on Thursday. For the moment, the city of Guatemala "woke up" this morning with a temperature of 8 degrees. (46 F)They are estimating that for the regions that are 3000 meters above sea level, temperatures will be below zero.----------------------------------------------------------------------*This may not mean much for many of you, but please remember to pray for the Guatemala people. Many of which live in shacks and very poor housing facilities. And there are also a lot of people that live on the streets. There is NO heating in the houses and the wind usually blows between the gaps between the windows and the walls. It is COLD!

Dontcha' Love It?
This, on this morning's news.
Meanwhile, subzero temperatures shut down the Eurostar train service between Britain and France, overnight, stranding 2,000 travellers in the tunnel under the English Channel.
Passengers finally arrived in London 10 hours late after being stuck on board trains overnight with no heat or electricity and dwindling supplies of food and water. Many of them were evacuated on foot through tunnels, while diesel trains pushed the Eurostar trains back into stations. Train service is suspended and the service isn't expected to resume for a few days.
Hundreds of flights for Saturday and Sunday have been cancelled across Europe due to expected overnight snowstorms.
Up to 30 per cent of flights scheduled to depart from Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris have been cancelled, and Montenegro's main airport near Podgorica was completely closed due to snow and reduced visibility.
Britons were cleaning up from a rare snowfall which left up to 15 cm of snow on the ground Friday. England usually sees wet winters, and rarely gets snow.
Oh The Irony!
A climate agreement in Copenhagen is not an easy thing to achieve. Months of talks and negotiations have preceded the conference on climate change, and now the leaders of the most important countries in the world are weighing in, and still, there is no agreement in sight. Hilary Clinton is putting $1 Trillion on the table to influence the weather. Government can achieve great things, but can they really bring us better weather? "Today's moderately warm and dry day brought to you by the US government" is not a headline you will ever read. The 16,000 attendees at the conference were not able to generate enough hot air to prevent 4 inches of snow and below freezing temperatures in Copenhagen, which, by the way, has not had a white Christmas in 14 years. My friend Michael, in England sent me a photo of the snow they had yesterday, extremely rare for this time of year. It is snowing in Paris today, and I can't help but think that God is snubbing his nose at all these brilliant people who think they can control his creation.
But, I am sure that Al Gore would tell you that cooling is part of warming.
Update: Late today an agreement was arrived at. Basically, it is an agreement to re-distribute the wealth of the world. It has little to do with climate change. Will China, for example, be transparent in its attempts to cut carbon emissions? Highly doubtful. There will be cap and trade and carbon credits so in effect there will not only be a re-distribution of the wealth of the world, but also a re-distribution of the carbon of the world, not a reduction. These people need to read some of the literature on the facts and fallacy of what a green house gas really is and whether carbon dioxide fits the description. It is picked on because it is something that involves every one's life and can be controlled through price. Ultimately, we will lose our freedom over it. And the climate will continue to change.

Timing
Somebody is up to tricks to help out the beleaguered Climate conference in Copenhagen. Glaciologist Neil Young had discovered a massive iceberg 1700 kilometers off the coast of Australia. Using satellite photos, he has determined the size to be 19 kilometers long and 8 kilometers wide. This is scary and must be the result of Global warming, no? But hang on for just a minute. Upon closer inspection, this massive iceberg has been around for a while, a long while. It was the year 2000 when it was first seen to break off, or calve, from the Antarctic ice shelf. It poses no threat and is indeed one of many such icebergs that break off every thirty years or so. These Global warming people are getting desperate for stunts that will scare us all into believing that we humans are causing changes to our climate, which, by the way, has been changing since it was created. This is just business as usual. Tuesday, December 8, 2009
Warmer Weather Coming
You will also note that the 'Climate Gate' leaked documents concerning the hi-jacked emails that make the science look manipulated, is now focused on as a smear campaign. The real issue is the contents of the emails and this is not being addressed. They do not know how to handle this. They are like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar and they all know it. This hoax has gone far enough.

More Taxes
Sunday is supposed to be a relaxing and restful day, but I could not keep quiet any longer. This has been bugging me for several days now and one of the purposes of a blog is to get things off one's chest. I am actually writing this on Saturday night so by tomorrow (Sunday) I will be calm and restful once again. Did you notice it? The anniversary of our wonderful carbon tax on fossil fuels was on Canada Day. Also, the tax jumped 50%. Did you know that? Do you know what this tax is supposed to accomplish? Do think it is a wise tax? (Wow, is that an oxymoron or what?)
Here is the deal. The whole idea of a carbon tax is to eliminate carbon and is based on a few premises, the first being that carbon is harmful. The second premise is that because we cannot afford to buy the gasoline and heating fuel, we will stop doing so.
I will start with the last one first. We will always need fuel, at least until there is a readily available and viable alternative to power our need to transport and be transported. As for heating, we will always need to be warm. It is called survival.
The first premise is faulty on several fronts. The theory is that carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas and we as humans are producing too much of it. Carbon dioxide is actually a necessary and natural component of the atmosphere and is not harmful. But this is again based on a premise, and that is, that man is causing climate change by pumping too much carbon into the atmosphere. The body of science that is disagreeing with this theory is growing. It is still an on going debate, and yet we are being taxed to save the world.
Our government's own data says that the carbon tax will result in a reduction of .oo27% of greenhouse gases. Now that is what I call a poor bang for the buck, especially when it is not even certain that it is the carbon that is causing climate change.
The best defense of this tax this week was that the pine beetle devastation needs to be stopped. That statement assumes that the pine beetle is thriving because we are driving our cars. This is ridiculous.
I was listening to a national talk radio program this morning and it was on the topic of global warming and what is causing it, if indeed it is a reality. The host of the program has not heard from one single scientist on the anthropogenic side that has come forward to debate with the many scientists he has had on his program who refute man-made climate change. I think it is because they do not have a leg to stand on.
But keep on taxing us and soon our gas pumps will look like the one in the above photo, sitting derelict and rusting, while we walk in the heat and wait for the sunspots to return so our climate goes back to normal, if indeed what we are experiencing is not normal. I think it is.
