Is it a waste of time sitting in the garden waiting and watching for a Humming Bird so I can get a good photo? If it was all I did all summer, then the answer is yes, but I did it in snatches and also had a book in hand as I tried to wait out this nervous little creature. I would see him in the neighbor's plum tree, waiting for me to move away from his favourite flowers, just a few more feet. But I needed to get closer so it was a waiting game.
Of course, a few times he hovered inches above my head and sucked nectar three feet away from me, but those were the times I had no camera with me. My last round of snaps resulted in quite a few photos, but they were still not what I wanted. This was the best of the bunch.
