This was taken at a higher altitude and the lichen was still in winter mode, very dead and dry.
A little further down the mountain and it was lush and green with tiny forest mushrooms already growing.
An ancient red cedar stump almost covered in moss.
Look up, look way up! There are many of these giants in the forests around Bridal Veil Falls.
Looking for hibernating bears, with bear spray at the ready.
The early morning sun filtering through the moss laden tree branches. The ferns on the forest floor, together with last Autumn's leaves, will soon be covered with new summer growth.
