Before we rented our Desert Home, we had another choice. busylizzy had a client who had just purchased a home in the Coachella Valley and they wanted us to rent it. Today we drove to Old Towne La Quinta and checked out what we missed. The reason we did not chose that one was that it seemed a bit small for our purposes. It was confirmed after we saw it today. Also, our location here is far superior, although I must admit that La Quinta is a very quiet and quaint community that has a distinct charm and is not as busy.
We came back to Palm Desert and checked out something we spotted from one of our hikes last week. We were high on a mountain ridge and spotted a huge garden center below us. busylizzy, the consummate gardener, just had to see it up close so we did. It was similar to our garden centers except for the type of plants. This (the photos) is not even a fair sampling, but it was very interesting and it was great to see a bit more colour again. There is not a lot in the natural desert except in the early spring when the cacti bloom. We saw some very interesting and unusual plants here and I will no doubt blog about this in more depth at a later date.
This display of garden ornaments reminded us very much of Puerto Vallarta where they craft very similar things.
These are strictly indoor plants at home. Here they thrive in the gardens and courtyards. (Bird of Paradise)
This was a type of succulent, almost a cactus. It was 8 ft. tall and the colour was vibrant and unique.
busylizzy is still recovering from a gastro-intestinal event so we layed low the rest of the afternoon.
Definitely pool weather today. Our friends are spending the day in Hemitt (sp?) with some relatives so it is quiet here this evening.
I washed all the talcum powder dust off the car today. It feels strange driving around here with a grubby car. Everything here is first class and shiny new. Exotic cars are the norm. My car is the farthest thing from exotic, but at least now I am gleaming like all the others.

Looks like your photo program is working again!
We are missing Monday night supper with y'all.
I like that plant, whatever it is. Very pretty and weird looking.
Get better, busylizzy. :)

Bring home one of those garden suns for our yard. It would look good me thinks.
