Day 23

Day 23 has not yet happened, but here is a bit of miscellaneous catching up from the last few days. Our friends just left for their day in Joshua Tree Park and we will be heading out, in a while, but in a different direction. The above photo was taken in The Living Desert a while back.

The night before they left, the boys wanted to make good use of the pool. It was really cold and I don't know how they could do this. The pool temp. is only 80F. They pop back into the hot tub to warm up quite often, where the temp is 100F. The pool and spa is salt water which makes for a much more pleasant dip and is not so hard on the swim wear. No chlorine odour either.

Me, busylizzy, Dawna, and Jim.

Andrew, packing up to leave yesterday. The grandsons bought a whole whack of Lego at Legoland but no room in their luggage to bring it home on the plane. Andrew came, packed light, went home loaded. (His car, not him)

Here he is with his Uncle Ron, professional driver and mechanic, checking out the fluid levels before striking out on the long journey home. They travelled together on the way home like they did on the way up.
As I look over the roof tops this bright sunny morning, I see how much snow there is on the local mountains, and am surprised at how low it is. When we were here five years ago, there was actually snow right here in town the day before we arrived. It was extremely unusuall at that time and, now, again, this cold snap is the talk of the town. I am starting to feel responsible. :)
2pm.
We thought we would try to find all out old haunts from 5 years ago. Much has changed but we managed to find Canyon Shores where we stayed and just up the street was the cinema 10 where we went a few times for a cheap movie. It is still there and movies are now only 75 cents! They are movies that are in the video stores, but you cannot rent a DVD for that price. Next door is our fave grocery store, Food 4 Less. We went in and bought a lot of groceries for very little money. Across from this little mall is the Mexican restaurant that I have been wanting to go to, but had no clue as to where it was. I recognised it right away. It has an unusual name. "Mexican Restaurant". How could I have forgotten? We also discovered the place that we were so impressed with when we ate there all those years ago. It looks so very expensive and the decor and atmosphere inside is wonderful. I remember looking at the menu and being very pleasantly surprised at the variety and the prices. We will go there soon. To eat, that is.
Back into the sun for now. It is almost hot out there but by 3pm it will have cooled off. I see it is snowing back home. Boo hoo.

One regret is that I didn't eat in a Mexican restaurant while we were down there :(

Love that beard! You look just like Roger Whitaker, as I remember him. It's a keeper!

Yes Terry, I thought you looked rather extinguished (as dad always used to say). :)

I like it too.

We never ate Mexican either...I guess we are just too stuck in our Canadian ways, eh?
