Went to Hawaii Last Night

Last week we came across a movie review and decided we would see the movie on its opening night. Because we had both worked during the day, we decided to go to the early show last night. When I bought the tickets at the entrance, I said,"I want two tickets for 'Soul Survivor'."
The name of the movie is actually 'Soul Surfer' but the girl smiled and said, "I know what you mean".
As we entered the theater, we noticed right away that we were the rare couple there. It was mostly teenage girls with their chaperones. The place was abuzz with giggles, chatter, background iPod tunes, texting, and popcorn munching. We sometimes are the youngest people in the crowd, but this time we were the oldest. The late show might have been better.
The theater was full to capacity. The moment the movie started, it became dead quiet and we never heard a peep from the 'giggle crowd' for the whole two hours! This movie will hold your attention for sure.
It is about a young girl who lives in Hawaii on the beach with her family and she lives to surf. She has already done well on the local amateur circuit and has a bright future.
A shark attack changes all that. The story is true and the adaptation to screen, the acting, and the photography make this a most engaging and emotional story. I am sure you will 'google' it to get more of the story line and watch a 'trailer', so I will not say too much more other than I very highly recommend it. It is well within the definition of a 'Christian movie' and as such, one never really knows what to expect. Be surprised.
Oh, and I think busylizzy would recommend you take a box of Kleenex. And the title? It could have been called 'Soul Survivor' just as easily.

There are no transformers or laser gun battles, but yes, I think they would. There is a strong and healthy family dynamic, good lessons on friendship and how to handle peer group rivalry, great surfing photopgraphy, and many interesting and emotional moments as the young girl re-learns how to do things with one arm.
