While Europe is in the throes of a wild and cold winter, this years Global Warming summit is being held in Cancun. Well, of course. Don't you remember last year's fiasco in Copenhagen, when winter trumped the fear mongering of rising temperatures. 'Chicken Little' of "the sky is falling" fame has been found out. They are running straight to exactly what they are warning us all about, warm climates. They don't like the cold any more than you and I so they have joined the tens of thousands of sun seekers on the beaches of Cancun. At least they will not be snowed on this time.
The world leaders are 'on to them' also. They are staying away in droves. Not only that, their delegates are shunning any kind of agreement. The jig is up. We have all heard enough fear mongering while vast money making industries pop up like mushrooms around each fear. SARS, Bird Flu, H1N1, coastal cities being covered in 20 ft. walls of water due to melting ice.
When it turned into a religion, complete with 'believers' and 'deniers', they lost me. When only evidence that supported the fear was discussed, they lost me. 'Climategate' during last year's summit was the last straw.
But, the diehards will continue to push for carbon trading, carbon taxes, reduced carbon footprints, and propaganda will be pushed to new heights. It will cost us all dearly, with the result being that God will still be the only one who controls the weather. Oh, the arrogance of man!
