Day 8

I can't believe I ate the whole thing!

We live on the best decorated street for miles around.

We set out for church this morning, knowing for sure where the Southwest Community Church was because we attended there twice before when we were staying in Cathedral City a few years ago. We searched and searched and could not find it. We gave up and came home. I googled the church and discovered that had we driven one more block we would have been right there.
We then did TV church and there is an abundance of it on our 850 channels.
We tried again in the evening, this time we knew for sure where the local Baptist church was, just across the street from the street fair we were at the day before. It was advertised as free choir program. They were having 5 performances so we thought it might be good. Good?! It was amazing. The choir director, as it turns out, worked with Bill and Gloria Gaither for many years and now has his own gig. It was a cross between Brooklyn Tabernacle choir and and a full out Gaither concert. There were 80 voices and they were sooo excellent. Top notch. It was announced after the program that they have been invited to Carnegie Hall to participate in a choir festival and mass choir extravaganza. They have some amazing soloists. No blacks in this choir but if you closed your eyes, you would be fooled. They were a friendly and exuberant group and their enthusiasm was contagious. The audience got into it. It was fun and quite a memorable experience.
