Day 2

Gordon Lightfoot sings a line in his song "Me and Bobby McGee". It goes something like this: "with those windshield washers slapping time."  I have never seen so much rain, and I am from a place that knows rain. So, no photo. It would have just been one big grey blob.
We sloshed and splashed our way to Bakersfield tonight. We walked several blocks to dinner and it was intimidating. It is not a bad part of town at all but there were 'characters' everywhere eyeing us. There are no pedestrians here. Everyone drives. We were accosted by a black man whose wife had just had a stroke and he needed money for her meds. Sure.
Tomorrow we will be in the desert.

I'm sure you were such a disappointment to the con artist. Here he probably thought he happened upon two Canadian suckers :)
