One More Sleep

No, I didn't take this photo. How could I have. We are not there yet. But when I get there I will be taking similar pictures. It has been in the thirties there this last week, but of course, by the time we arrive it is supposed to be colder than normal. Long range forecasts are not reliable anyway so I will only take shorts and T-shirts. And in the other duffel bag I will have winter clothes. One thing is for certain. There will be sun.
We are not used to preparing for such an extended time away and there seems to be an unending list of things to take care of before we depart. I am wondering what we will have discovered that we did not take care of, somewhere around Seattle, where it is too far to turn back.
We started packing a little medicine bag about five years ago for our one week vacations in Mexico. It was a result of busylizzy cutting her foot in the swimming pool and needing a bit of first aid. Since then, our travelling pharmacy has expanded to take up a huge space in one of the bags. There must be twenty bottles and jars, even though there is only one prescription drug. Mostly food supplements and pain killers.
What to leave and what to take is a dilemma. Of course, anything we really need that we either forgot or thought we would not need can be purchased while we are there. A good chunk of our vehicle space is taken up with a two year old's paraphernalia which he cannot take with him because he is flying. (with his mom and dad and brothers, silly)
Tonight we get to say goodbye to some very dear friends. We are having a big turkey dinner with them. We will then head home, pack up the car and get some sleep before the big day comes. I will blog along the way, hopefully. There is wireless service everywhere these days so my only excuse will be fatigue or time restraints. But, hey, I will be on holidays, so time is not a factor, right?
