Hamas

Pitt River Bridge

I have just read a fascinating book, published only months ago, written by the son of one the founders of Hamas, the Islamic resistance movement in the West Bank and Gaza, listed by the United States, European Union, and others as a terrorist organisation. The author grew up inside the organisation and through a turn of events ended up working as an Israeli spy. Along the way he began to question the strict Muslim upbringing he had and as his allegiance to his political and religious heritage erodes, he finds himself drawn to Christianity. He reveals many before unknown facts about historical events where the press 'got it wrong'. He lived an incredible life, always on the edge, always playing both sides, and always wanting a solution to the strife in the Middle East. This book was hard to put down. It gives amazing insight into the everyday life in a Palestinian refugee camp, the inside of those notorious prisons, the political and tactical workings of a terrorist organisation, the Muslim mindset, and the methods and mentality of Israeli agents as they try to protect their country by tracking down terrorists. I highly recommend this book.
